I was really upset when I wrote the last post and I continued my pondering about BC and FB and nearly drove myself crazy. I don't think I want to be a spectator either its not easy to see people you care for go through marital problems. Was too blue to write anymore... But then today things are different and believe it or not I now know why people cry at weddings.
Yesterday, I was at an engagement party with the family and this time my cousin Curly Top, who is about 55, was announcing the engagement of his son Romeo to the love of his life a Christian girl Julie.
If you are wondering how I have a 55 yr old cousin you'll know that he is the youngest son of my oldest uncle who god bless his soul is no more.
But, despite all the differences in the gods we pray to, the families met and realised that we are actually peas-in-a pod or the medallion with missing halves suddenly re-united!
Quite like our hindi movies - our half of the missing trinket and here our Romeo rambled around in the universe and found his other half missing trinket Julie and soon the giant family puzzle fell into place.
Curly top's wife( Merry) who loves to drink and be merry met her missing piece in her to be daughter-in-law's mommy - Dee! Curly Top and Julie's poppa Whiskers realised they both had paunches as big as can be! Aunty B met a kindred soul in their jet-setting granny K! Uncle Gym found he had loads to talk - to Julie's body-builder bro AB and so on...
As for the rest of us we found singing pals in their side as loud as can be and we cracked jokes and told old family bloopers by Romeo and Julie to one another.
The speeches were fun with lots of anecdotes from both sides - made it all the more spicy. There were no religious paraphernalia - the young couple had insisted and so everyone enjoyed themselves.
Aunt Agatha who normally finds faults with anyone other than her perfect daughters, their perfect hubbies and their perfect families, could not but admit our Romeo had found the perfect family for us.
By the way, Julie's Skin-Head cuz who made a gallant speech got more than a couple of looks from me. He made sure he wanted to know more about me and as this is only the engagement there are several days ahead in August to explore those thoughts. But for now Skin-head's gift of the gab has me impressed and the guy was funny and that's making me happy!
Anyway when the date was announced giving everyone ample time to book tickets and the promise of having a week-long celebration with one another everyone had tears of joy. I am so looking forward to this wedding and to loads of fun with Skin-head and his family!
Three cheers to Romeo and Julie - they are lucky! Now how many of us get to find and keep the love of our lives for the rest of their lives, please tell me?
