My attitude & bias against new-age gurus got me fired!!!
Guys, I just got fired and I call on all my pals in iland blogdom for some support! This is my first time and the boss was "just cutting costs", he said.
By the way, he praised me sky-high for my writing skills, for my nose for the news and all that blah blah... I was a feature writer for a local mag and they paid me well, I think.
But, then the newer cheaper writers arrived and the dearer with-more-attitude one got the boot! I know, its all economics and glamour sells mags but I refused to write about glamourous upstarts in the modelling field who had nothing interesting to say.
There was this beauty queen interview I had to write - she confessed she did not read just clubbed with pals and took a fat pay for each assignment. She was more interested in her blind belief in her spiritual guru and how she became a believer.
Needless to say my feathers were ruffled! I'm not a fan of the new age gurus who jet-set to far off lands peddalling blind belief. Don't get me wrong - I'm no atheist just against gurus.
Maybe these gurus give their followers a false sense of security in this maya that life is. But if security is all that they want where is the excitement of something new?
Anyway I'll be getting something new soon - a new job! Old boss is getting me new employers where my creativity will be fully utilized he says and when business picks up he wants me back!
Ok I admit I am mighty peeved did not expect this - ego hurt - but will keep my attitude, likes and dislikes in the new workplace. And march on ahead hoping to continue writing about interesting people of substance with genuine inner strength. By the way, feel better already...
